VulcanForms is hiring a Product Engineer for our Burlington, MA location.

Job Purpose
As the Product Engineer at VulcanForms, Burlington, MA, you will perform the critical function of technical point-of-contact for our customers. By leveraging the expertise of materials scientists, materials processing experts, and LPBF manufacturing engineers, you will direct the entire production process of the parts you own.

The role has a significant impact on our relationship with customers. As a technical leader, you will be assessed based on your ability to transition customer print files into part demonstrators capable of meeting first article inspection requirements. You will establish part success criteria, including print layouts, support strategies, powder evacuation methods, production risks, and abatements. To facilitate part production, you will interact with suppliers, internal and external laboratory experts, manufacturing engineers, business leaders, machinists, and technicians. Strategic decisions that define production schedules will be made based on your recommendations. The ideal candidate will engage fully in the entire supply chain for the parts they own.

Applicants that demonstrate experience working closely with customers on technically complex products are highly preferred. Those with a background in designing additively manufactured parts, preferably for medical, defense, or aircraft engine applications, are also of extreme interest and encouraged to apply.

  • A minimum of 3 years designing/analyzing parts fabricated from nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, or high strength steels
  • Developing process routers, identifying, qualifying, and auditing suppliers
  • Part ownership throughout the entire production process
  • MRB substantiation experience, developing corrective actions
  • Expert user in any one of the following CAD platforms: Creo, Solidworks, or Inventor
  • Experience using Materialise Magics
  • BS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Extremely motivated and eager to learn
  • Authorized to work within the U.S. without restrictions or sponsorship now or in the future (U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S. (U.S. green card holder))
  • 5 years of design experience working in the medical, aircraft engine, or power generation business
  • Advanced engineering degree
  • Expert knowledge of design for metal additive components
  • Experience working with machining, materials processing suppliers
  • Background in mechanical properties of structural alloys, heat treating
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
